Emergency
The yellow that covers the wet meadows of Estrela and Gerês at winter's end, when there is nothing else. The flower looks like a small funnel or a skirt, which gives it all its common names.

How to tell it
A very large central crown opening like a funnel, with the petals reduced to thin straps behind it. Cylindrical leaves as fine as needles. It grows on soil waterlogged in winter.
What it is confused with
No dangerous lookalikes known in the Iberian Peninsula.
What it is for
None
Like all daffodils, the bulb is toxic and has been mistaken for an onion. It counts as a seasonal spectacle and as an indicator of well-preserved wet meadow.

A genus protected under several legal instruments and present in classified areas. Do not pick it or dig up the bulb.
