Thyme-leaved fumana

The tiny cushion with thyme-like leaves and yellow crumpled-petalled flowers, clinging to limestone slabs and skeletal soils. It is a rockrose the size of a hand.

How to tell it
Very small, narrow, opposite leaves with sticky glandular hairs. Solitary yellow flowers with five fragile petals, the stalk bending down after flowering. Woody but only a few centimetres tall.
What it is confused with
No dangerous lookalikes known in the Iberian Peninsula.
What it is for
No use. It counts as an indicator of shallow limestone soil and as an example of how small a woody plant can be.
